Each Saturday the West Palm Beach GreenMarket draws more than 10,000 people to the waterfront, according to the Palm Beach Post. The city's new electric shuttle averaged about 50 passengers a day over its first three days in September, city records reported by the Palm Beach Post show. The gap between those two numbers is what this season will test.
The 32nd market season opened October 3 on the Great Lawn at 100 N. Clematis St. It runs Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through May 22, 2027. It is also the first season since downtown's ride options were rebuilt from scratch. The shuttle's route runs along Quadrille Boulevard, which isn't one of the streets the market closes. For anyone coming from Northwood, the SoSo blocks near the Norton or the streets around CityPlace, that makes West Palm Move the market-morning ride, with a short walk east at the end.
Downtown's Rides Have Changed Hands Several Times Since 2023
If the last time you rode downtown was on a trolley, here's what changed in between.
- June 2023. The city's trolleys were phased out in favor of RideWPB, which WPTV described at the time as a free pilot.
- May 31, 2026. RideWPB ended. The city pointed riders to Rose Trolley and the Downtown Development Authority's Circuit service until something new arrived.
- September 8, 2026. West Palm Move's fixed route launched. Its on-demand service followed on September 15.
- September 30, 2026. Circuit's on-demand service ran for the last time.
- October 3, 2026. The GreenMarket opened, along with its weekly road closures.
The West Palm Move site says plainly that it is "separate from previous trolley operations." The vehicles are all-electric Karsan e-JESTs on the fixed route and VW ID. Buzz vans for on-demand rides. Via operates the service under contract with the city. WLRN linked the launch to congestion, reporting that the city has added more than 9,000 residents since the 2020 Census.
The Shuttle Runs Just West of the Market's Closures
From 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. every Saturday, the market closes four parallel streets between Banyan Boulevard and Datura Street. The Clematis blocks close for longer. Downtown, the fixed route travels on Quadrille Boulevard, west of all of them.
| Street | Saturday market status | On the West Palm Move route? |
|---|---|---|
| Flagler Drive, Banyan to Datura | Closed 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. | No |
| Narcissus Avenue, Banyan to Datura | Closed 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. | No |
| Olive Avenue, Banyan to Datura | Closed 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. | No |
| Dixie Highway, Banyan to Datura | Closed 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. | Dixie carries the route north of downtown |
| Clematis Street, 100 to 400 blocks, and Lantana Avenue | Closed 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. | No |
| Quadrille Boulevard | Not listed in the closures | Yes, with stops at Datura, Clematis and Evernia |
The stop to know is Quadrille Blvd/Clematis St. It appears on the southbound list for both weekdays and Saturdays. The route has no Flagler Drive stop, so the Great Lawn is a walk of several blocks east down Clematis. On market mornings that walk goes straight through the closed blocks, past the vendors. Riding north, the closest listed stop is Quadrille Blvd/Datura St.
Timing works in the shuttle's favor too. On Saturdays the fixed route starts at 8 a.m., half an hour before the market opens, and runs until 9 p.m. Rose Trolley, the on-demand service that runs separately from West Palm Move, doesn't start weekend service until 9 a.m. If you want first pick at the produce tables, the fixed route is now the earliest ride downtown.
Where to Board, by Where You Live
Downtown, the Saturday stop pattern differs from the rest of the week. In the CityPlace area, weekday buses stop on S Rosemary Avenue. On Saturdays they switch to S Sapodilla Avenue.
- Northwood Village. Board northbound or southbound near Northwood Rd/Spruce Ave or Northwood Rd/Dixie Hwy. The southbound stop at 24th St/Dixie Hwy has been closed indefinitely since 9/28 because of construction. The service alert sends riders to a temporary stop at 23rd/Dixie Hwy, about a six-minute walk away, or to Northwood/Spruce, about four minutes away.
- North of downtown along Dixie. Southbound stops include Dixie Hwy at 21st St, 19th St, Lilac Ct, 13th St, 11th St and 8th St before the route turns onto Quadrille.
- CityPlace blocks. On Saturdays, northbound stops are S Sapodilla Ave at Okeechobee Blvd and at Fern St. Southbound, the Saturday list has S Sapodilla Ave at Fern St and at Dreyfoos in place of the Rosemary stops.
- South of Okeechobee, near the Norton. The route starts and ends on S Olive Avenue, with stops at Acacia Rd, Vallowe Ct and Pembroke Pl.
The city publishes the full route on the West Palm Move fixed-route page and notes that the network design is subject to change. Check the service alerts before you head out.
What the Ride Costs, and the Card You'll Need
Fixed-route rides cost $1, paid by tapping a credit or debit card, phone or smartwatch onboard. Cash is not accepted. On-demand rides cost $2 and are booked through the West Palm Move app or by calling (561) 264-0458. They run daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. A trip that combines a fixed-route ride with an on-demand ride costs a flat $2, because transfers are free.
The on-demand option fills the gap the fixed route leaves. If you live east of Dixie, or far enough off the route that the walk to a stop is longer than the ride, booking an on-demand van to the Quadrille corridor costs the same $2 as the old Circuit average. In WPTV's coverage ahead of the launch, Deputy City Administrator Armando Fana said, "No matter what time you get to the stop, you won't wait more than 10 minutes."
If You Drive Anyway, Which Garage You Pick Matters
Market-day parking is cheap if you pick the right garage. The City Center, Clematis and Sapodilla garages are free during market hours. Banyan and Evernia, the two closest to the Great Lawn, charge the $5 all-day weekend rate. The DDA lists City Center at 400 Banyan Boulevard, Clematis at 500 Banyan Boulevard and Sapodilla at 645 Clematis Street. All three free garages sit on the western side of downtown, near the shuttle's Quadrille stops. Parking in any of them puts you about the same walk from the market as getting off the bus.
Cyclists get the closest spot of all. The DDA's free seasonal bike valet is at N. Narcissus Avenue and Clematis Street, inside the closed zone.
What's New at the Market This Season
Once you're there, the market has new names this year. Five vendors joined for 2026–27: Ba Café, Arya Tea Bar, Macaroner, Sayblee Products and Truffle Smiles. Four vendors with more than 15 years at the market were named Legacy Vendors and no longer have to compete for their spots: Leila, Macy's Smoked Fish Dip, Makebs and Mozzarita. This season's theme is "The World, Right Here," with vendors representing Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia and beyond.
There are two Saturdays to skip planning around. The market is closed February 6, 2027, for the Palm Tree Festival and March 20, 2027, for the Palm Beach International Boat Show.
The Route Keeps Going After 1:30
The market closes at 1:30, and the shuttle keeps running until 9 p.m. on Saturdays. Its stops line up with several things on the fall calendar.
- Saturday, October 24. CityPlace is holding its Fall Fest. On Saturdays the nearest stops are on S Sapodilla Ave at Okeechobee Blvd and Fern St.
- Saturday, October 31. Two exhibitions open at the Norton Museum of Art: "Blazing Light: Photographs by Mimi Plumb" and "Gertrude Abercrombie: The Whole World Is a Mystery." Members can preview them October 30. The Norton is at the south end of the route.
- Saturday, November 14. The Master Chef Showcase, a chef-versus-chef competition, starts its run at the GreenMarket. That afternoon, Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens holds its 10th-anniversary Sculpture in Motion exhibition from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a classic-car parade at 4:15 p.m.
On November 14 you could have breakfast at the market, catch the cooking competition, ride south to the sculpture gardens for the afternoon, and get home without moving your car.
